The rise in the price of raw metals has impelled researchers to look for new sectors in which powder metallurgy could be competitive. In many cases, the limiting factor is the density achieved, which sometimes means that other finishing processes have to be used, raising the final cost of the piece.
Over the last few years, the development of Master Alloys has forged ahead in the search to optimise the mechanical specifications of the pieces without having to carry out further processes after sintering. By adding small percentages of Master Alloys to a given powder composition, some properties, such as density, can be visible improved.
Metallied works with the CEIT (Guipuzcoa Centre for Technical Studies and Research) which has a strong powder metallurgy department that has already worked on this type of alloys. Our vocation is to innovate, and to investigate new opportunities in order to make better products.
